WAITING FOR THE INEVITABLE

On the final night of Falles, the historic yearly Spring festival in Valencia, the vast array of falles constructions scattered throughout the city are burnt in huge bonfires. This is known as La Cremà (the Burning), the “climax of the whole event.” Only the soot, not the flames visible in the background, has reached this particular street corner falles and the statue's globe held up as an offering visible behind a traffic standard. (NOTE: In this particular year – 2021 - Falles was postponed until the Fall.)
