The Plaza de España is both a building and a plaza in the Parque de María Luisa in Seville, Spain. It was built in 1928 for the Ibero-American Exposition of 1929. The highlighted structure was a principal building of the Exposition, showcasing Spain's industry and technology exhibits. Today, it houses governmental offices. The site is enormous. Just to give you a sense, the building measures nearly 46,000 m2 (495,000 sq. ft.). The canal that curves around the front of this megalith and its plaza is 515m (1670 ft.) in length. That is approximately the length of 5.5 (American) football fields. An open-air promenade on the second level of the building provides grand vistas, wonderful architectural detailing, and a photographer's dream. This is one of four shots focusing on the architecture of this unique place. It was doubly unique given that this normally crowded landmark was relatively empty due to the various constraints on travel.
