Wandering Gemsboks

The Gemsbok or oryx, Oryx Gazella, is an iconic symbol of Namibia, appearing on the country's coat of arms and is the national animal. Gemsbok`s are widely hunted for their spectacular horns that average 85 cm (33 in) in length. The sand here is five million years old. It is comprised mostly of tiny grains of coated in a thin layer of iron oxide, giving the Namib its distinctive red color. It is an amazing site to watch but it is too risky, unlike many other photographic locations. It is very risky to walk on these dunes, every step has to be taken cautiously. The dunes are very steep only after walking uphill the tip of the dune you will get to know the depth on the other side. It can give you shocking waves sometimes. Apart from this, the scorching sunlight can make you go blind which makes it very difficult to get the perfect shot. You will get sandblasted for sure and walking on this soft sand with your cameras is a fitness challenge. After fighting all this I was lucky enough to get this Oryx isolated in its natural habitat. This image also shows a flawless pattern formed on the sand and a little fluorescent green vegetation. Overall I like this picture very much.
