While visiting Waikiki, we stumbled upon a closed World War I Memorial. It was disheartening to see how run-down the memorial was. Many people walked by it without even acknowledging it was there-almost like it was background noise. As this father walked by, pulling his young children and holding his beach equipment, the stark difference between the generations became apparent.
