While on an architecture cruise along the Chicago River, I passed a restaurant with large glass windows that overlooked the water. A worker inside was cleaning the glass, and the riverfront buildings reflected across the window in distorted, wavy patterns. The moment mixed the city’s iconic architecture with an ordinary job, capturing a small slice of daily life along Chicago’s waterfront.
