Washington Stopped Here

On January 3, 1777, George Washington was victorious at the battle of Princeton. Afterward, he and his troops drank from a spring that runs near present-day Route 206. A Flood Channel Bridge spans the spot where the spring falls into Stony Brook. During the shutdown, I retreated to Princeton, NJ where I was born. I sought quiet and secluded places. I also became like a tourist visiting sites I meant to see during my youth. Washington’s spring has become one of my favorite spots. It not only gave me peace but also reminded me that our country has overcome turmoil before. Together we will rise above coronavirus and will emerge stronger and healthier.
