Watch Your Step...
At night in San Felipe, Baja California, the animals of the day go home and the nocturnal creatures come out to play. Although I'm accustomed to walking almost everywhere without shoes when I visit, I make a point to protect my feet from these nightwalkers. Containing a specific molecule throughout their exoskeleton, scorpions' bodies are illuminated when in contact with ultraviolet light. In my family, we go on scorpion scavenger hunts to find as many of these arachnids as we can and watch them light up like Christmas trees from the UV light.
