My digital camera, protected by a special housing that lets me shoot underwater, is my tool for exploring the boundaries between sea and sky. This photograph is part of an on-going series called Ebb and Flow. I swim with my camera and document the texture, color, and poetry of water above and below the surface. Through photography, I have the power to stop the motion of water. I photograph details from the vantage point of a swimmer and look for the interplay between my lens and the water’s movement, endeavoring to capture that single moment where my camera, intuition, and the natural world are perfectly aligned. With clean, uncomplicated compositions I hope to evoke the power and poetry of water and invite the viewer to experience their own emotions and memories of the sea.
