Weaving a Colourful Story

Farmers in India have a tough job adapting to the present climate change. Year after year, the poverty stricken community are faced with the challenge of erratic crop failure. The women of the community play a strong role in the cropping process, planting the seeds and harvesting the crops manually. Their personalities stand strong in the face of looming dangers. My photo showcases one such indomitable personality. The woman has laid out her saree to dry in the open. She is on a journey to cover 250kms by feet to pay homage to her deity. Each year, the farming community ventures on a pilgrimage for 21 days where they travel by feet together with more than 2 million other farmers. This movement symbolises the connection of the community towards nature and the significance they hold in our lives.
