Wedding tableau, Kodagu
The bride and groom sit under the canopy, a picture of river Kaveri behind them. The bride's uncle and his wife stand behind her. The groom's uncle behind him. Besides each of them is a wooden box and a plate of rice. Relatives and friends line up. They take some rice and shower it on the couple. Then they put their gift - generally money- into the wooden box. This is used to cover the wedding expenses.
