15th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Travel
Welcome
Situated in the mountains, two hours outside of Portovelo, Ecuador is a coffee farm owned by a small family of five. It is custom in the area to provide visitors with gifts, as rural Ecuadorians are a very hospitable people. An elderly woman peeled forty oranges for our group of researchers.
