Western Everglades in Monochrome
This image was taken along the Tamiami Trail where Everglades National Park transitions into Big Cypress National Preserve. It was taken during the summer rainy season, and water was plentiful in this section of the Shark River Slough. The still, tannic water provided a brilliant reflection of the landscape. Having spent many years exploring the wilderness of Southern Florida, I often wonder how much time we have left. Urban and agricultural development has already claimed 50% of the original Everglades. How long before climate change takes its toll due to our inaction?
