15th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest The American Experience
Will You Stand Up for Justice?
We took a road trip to Wyoming. Along the way, we visited Heart Mountain Relocation Center. The displays there are interactive and engrossed my 8-year-old daughter, who wrote on the index card the museum gave her to record her story, "I think it was bad for them to make an prison camp." It just goes to show that you don't have to be of a certain ethnicity to empathize with those who are.
