16th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
Wing

This was taken on 35mm black and white film. While on a hike with my family and cousins, I was expiramenting with my camera and new lens. I was hoping to capture some of the rawness of nature, especially through the use of texture. This image accomplished this for me because it shows the interaction between nature and the hiker, the texture on the hands show some of the grime, and the texture of the wing shows the beautiful intricacy of nature. This contrasts with the subject of the broken wing.
