Woman from the Chin tribe
Woman from the Chin tribe in the remote areas of Rakhine State, Myanmar. She lives in a small village on the river in a bamboo hut and makes a living from weaving shawls, etc. and selling them. The spiderweb tattoo was made when she was a young girl and took many days to do and was very painful. Mostly it is women over 45-years old only that have these tattoos. Some say it is made for beautification of women while others that it is to keep enemies from taking the girls and women.
