Women planting rice in Cambodia.

This photo was taken during my service in the Peace Corps in Cambodia. One morning, a friend asked me to accompany her and some other women to plant rice. I helped at first but was often encouraged to take a break because I was going too slow! The women move quickly in a bent over position, using their thumb and pointer finger to make a hole while simultaneously sticking the bundles of rice into the mud. This whole field was planted in half a day.
