Work in progress!
Unfinished clay faces of Goddess Durga have been laid out for drying at a workshop in Kumartuli, the potters’ quarter in Kolkata, India. The locality, characterised by a maze of dingy & narrow bylanes and centuries-old houses, is home to about 200-odd artisans. A couple of months before Durga Puja, the artisans get very busy in crafting the idols. The idols are handcrafted over a framework of bamboo and straw.
