Xinacate jumping
The photo shows a child dressed as a xinacate jumping through the streets of the town. Xinacates are characters who come out to dance during the San Nicolás de los Ranchos carnival as a ritual to ask for good harvests and a good rainy season; the young people paint their bodies with black or silver paint.
