Yanar dag

Yanar Dag (meaning "burning mountain") is a natural gas fire which blazes continuously on a hillside on the Absheron Peninsula on the Caspian Sea near Baku. The Yanar Dag fire is never extinguished. Azerbaijan was a country of fire-worshipers, followers of the Zoroastrian cult, before religion of islam. People believed that fire sources were the manifestation of divine power, they worshiped them, building altars and temples.These fires gave Azerbaijan the moniker “Land of Fire.”
