At night times while on safari, when reviewing my photographs after any given day, I’m often drawn to pictures which lend themselves to a ‘humorous’ caption. This shot, taken in the Maasai Mara on an evening game drive in March 2023, is just such an example. One hyena (the alpha female from this cackle) seemingly tried to ingratiate herself to the camera; staring directly at me with her missing ears. Unimpressed, her cub looked on as if to say: “Do you have to be such an attention-seeker?”.
