Zamba Dancing in Buenos Aires
This photo was taken at a neighborhood tango festival in the working class Barracas neighborhood of Buenos Aires. It is typical during tango dances to play the occasional folk song. Here, the dancers are dancing to a joyous zamba, one of the classic styles of Argetine folk music. This Bodegón has become a vital hub in the revitalization of tango as a participatory neighborhood practice, bringing together multiple generations of tango enthusiasts to dance, sing, and play together in the warm glow of this century old bar.
